Music Blog, 20 Watts has given Luke Top a spot on their “Editors Pick” list.  The song they chose, and rightfully so as it’s a favorite of mine, is “Plainest Drought.”  I find the song to be ironic as I get wet just thinking about it–nice to know you’re not alone, these guys are gushing too.  They write, “All I know is that whenever I listen to this song, every feeling I’m having is brought to the surface and vanishes- almost like a self-cleansing.”  Read it in full HERE.

Grab your sister’s skanky friend, were goin to Area.  What’s that?  Area closed down.  Bummer.  Good thing DJ Tugboat’s got the groove.  Not since “Bitch you don’t know Michelle,” has Slow Death ushered in a Dance-club Banger.  A song once great for making love with that special someone has become an anthem for thirdbase-in’ in the coatcheck.  Read the RCRDLBL writeup and DL the track HERE. Luke Top got a wonderful mention in the Fool’s Gold review on CMJ.  They said of our boy,

“Luke Top, who also just put out a warm solo album, Friends, three months ago, shares Zach Condon’s Morrissey-inspired warbling and love of sweeping orchestrations of traditional instruments&mdashin this case drawn from African styles combined with Western pop conventions.”

So I’ve been sleeping with the turtles, if you know what I mean, for the past month. This has taken its toll on my blogging speed, but I’m back like a vertebra (I think that line is from Insane Clown Posse). It’s summer romance on the Lake–Lake Gaza. Luke Top’s new video, “Friends” disguises itself as a crackly, MTV12 music video playing as background for backgammon in the Middle-East. Follow Luke’s romantic romp and ongoing pursuit of being “more than just friends.”

Read it and weep ladies. Luke is putting love hexes on all y’all this August in Downtown’s Pershing Square.  Sneak in some goose and grapefruit juice.
